I engaged Retties because Alice Brown, the Manager of the Melrose Branch just understood our property when she first visited for the valuation appointment. In modern parlance she just 'got it', grasping straightaway its virtues, its selling points, its value. As we had hoped this property was our 'forever home' we never wanted to sell but age and size decreed it. Therefore we wanted as quick a sale as possible to ease the pain of leaving. Alice was on board from day one, quickly photographers (excellent job), and other staff were mobilised with Alice used her expert knowledge of the local market to contact clients who might be a match for our property. The first client she had spoken to, who had been looking for a property for some time loved it on the first viewing and bought it; signing the Missives (exchange of contracts Scotland) within three weeks and setting the date for completion. This meant we had to downsize from a much larger house to a much smaller one in a matter of weeks. Hence this review is later than I would have liked, as by the time we had reduced, given away, thrown away and packed all of our possessions ready for the move, I could barely string a few lucid words together! Now three weeks after our move to England we are settling in and the time has come for me put pen to paper to recognise the brilliant and professional work that the Melrose team in the Scottish Borders did for us. Alice kept us informed every step of the way and her guidance and humour were essential and saw us through the entire process. What a gal, what a leader, what a service! I have already told friends and family what a pleasure it was to deal with Retties and will go on doing so for anyone who may have an interest in buying or selling a property.
