Letting & Management

Our Letting and Management department manage over 700 properties on behalf of our landlord clients in Edinburgh, Glasgow, the Borders and across central Scotland, including Fife and Perthshire. Our dedicated team of over 25 are trained and experienced in all aspects of property rentals and we are one of the few RICS accredited letting agencies in Scotland.


Diarmid Mackenzie Smith MRICS

Diarmid joined Rettie & Co. in 1997 and manages the Letting & Management department. Diarmid previously ran a residential project management business and prior to that worked with Knight Frank selling country and town properties. Diarmid is a Member of The Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors, qualifying in 1992 having graduated from the Royal Agricultural College in Cirencester with a Diploma in Rural Estate Management in 1990.

As Lettings Manager Ros oversees the day to day running of the lettings team, as well as carrying out viewings, negotiating lets and bringing in new business. Ros joined the Rettie & Co. lettings team in 2005 after gaining valuable experience working for another Edinburgh lettings agency. Prior to this Ros was an events manager for a national charity and she graduated from Aberdeen University on 2002 with an MA(Hons) in Sociology.

Zoe Rodrigues

Zoe is responsible for winning new business on behalf of the lettings department. She also manages a portfolio of corporate properties as well as carrying out viewings and negotiating lets. Zoe has over 10 years experience in property and brings an in depth knowledge of the market to her business development role. She graduated from Aberdeen University with an MA (hons) in Hispanic Studies & History of Art and she also holds a Diploma in Marketing.

Louise joined Rettie & Co. in 2006, initially joining the property management team. In 2009 she became a letting agent and her role now involves carrying out viewings, negotiating lets, organising referencing and handling tenant and landlord queries. Louise graduated from the University of Edinburgh with a MA (Hons) in Geography, Economic and Social History.

Gordon Graham

In his role as letting agent, Gordon's primary responsibilities are to carry out viewings, negotiate lets, organise tenant referencing and handling tenant and landlord queries. Gordon graduated from Napier University in 2000 with a BSc (Hons) in Management & IT. Previously Gordon worked at The Gleneagles Hotel after time spent working in America and Australia.

Celia Brook

Celia joined Rettie & Co in July 2011, as Lettings Coordinator. Prior to this, she worked as a PA for a company selling resort properties in Europe. Her role at Rettie & Co is to handle property enquiries, arrange and follow up viewings and provide administration support to the Lettings team. Celia graduated from the University of Edinburgh with a BSc (Hons) in Astrophysics, in 2010.

Camilla Younger

Camilla is based between Rettie & Co.’s Edinburgh and Melrose offices with responsibility for the development of the rural residential portfolio and management of student lets. Camilla originally joined the lettings team in 2002 as lettings manager overseeing the day to day running of the department.

Jane Perfect

Jane joined Rettie & Co in August 2011 as Personal Assistant to Diarmid Mackenzie Smith and Camilla Younger. Jane recently returned to the UK from 5 years in the US where she assisted with the family property business and studied interior decorating. Prior to this, Jane’s career was largely in retail, working in PA, administrative and buying roles in London. Jane also holds a BA (Hons) degree in French & Spanish from Leeds University and a Business IT diploma.

Julie joined Rettie & Co.’s Glasgow team in 2007 with primary responsibility for managing the Glasgow lettings portfolio. Prior to this Julie spent two years working with the Edinburgh lettings team and brings with her 6 years experience of working in the Edinburgh financial sector. Julie holds a degree in Geography and Sociology from Southampton University and a City in Guilds Diploma as a Domestic Energy Assessor.

Jaimie joined Rettie and Co. in November 2010. After graduating from the University of St. Andrews with a MA (Hons) in International Relations and History, he worked for Goldman Sachs in London before moving back to Glasgow and beginning his property career. Since then he has specialised in valuation and negotiation for Clyde Property and Corum. He also has overseas experience as a property broker in Berlin.

Laura joined Rettie & Co in March 2011 to help build the letting portfolio for Glasgow. After studying at Dundee University and spending some time travelling around Europe, Laura settled in Glasgow to begin her career in property. Over the last 4 years she has worked with Clyde Property in both East Dunbartonshire and Argyll & Bute, gaining invaluable experience in all aspects of the letting process.

Kevin joined Rettie & Co. in 2008 as Head of the Management Department. A fully qualified maintenance engineer, Kevin brought with him extensive maintenance experience gained within several large companies. In 1989, Kevin had a change in career and joined the Lothian & Borders Police Service, before returning to property in 2003 as Maintenance Manager within other Edinburgh based lettings agencies.

Annabel Davies

Annabel is responsible for all areas of property management including HMO licenses and inspections. She joined the Rettie & Co. Management team in 2009. Annabel has 6 years previous experience working as a property manager for a London based letting agency, during which time she took her ARLA Foundation exam. Annabel graduated from the University of Edinburgh in 2002 with a degree in Classics.

Chris Hay

Chris is RICS registered and training for his APC whilst working in the Property Management Department as a property manager. His main responsibilities include dealing with daily maintenance queries and the Rettie & Co. HMO portfolio and inspections. Chris graduated from Heriot Watt University in 2007 with a BSc (Hons) in Building Surveying. After a year in practice with Graham & Sibbald, he returned to university to complete an MSc in Real Estate Management, Development and Investment.

Marie joined our Property Management Department in September 2010 and as a Property Manager deals with all aspects of maintenance queries for her property portfolio. Marie graduated from Dundee University in 2002 with a MA (hons) in Hospitality Management. Marie has 5 years property management experience; she worked for a large independent supplier of student halls of residence for three years and more recently spent two years working for an Edinburgh based factor.

Prior to joining Rettie & Co, Colette was a Portfolio Manager for an Edinburgh-based property company.

Raymond is a skilled tradesman offering a range of handyman services to Rettie & Co’s client base – not only of properties managed or sold, but also to anyone looking for repair and maintenance work. Before joining Rettie & Co. Raymond was self employed for 15 years as a handyman/gardener working for several property letting agencies in the Edinburgh area. His skills as a handyman include general plumbing and electrics, joinery, tiling and gardening as well as general repairs and maintenance.

Joe is a skilled tradesman offering a range of maintenance services to landlords, tenants, sales clients and also non Rettie & Co clients requiring our Handyman service. He joined our growing maintenance team in March 2011. Joe brings with him over 11 years’ experience in the construction industry specifically in joinery and facilities maintenance.

Kim Collins

Kim joined Rettie & Co. in 2007 as Lettings Accounts Manager, bringing with her many years of accounting experience. Previously Kim worked as Finance Manager for a large chain of garden centres and for a publishing company prior to that.

Karen Bolton

Karen joined Rettie & Co. in 2010 as Lettings Accounts Assistant. She is responsible for processing rental payments, paying contractors and bank reconciliations. Karen previously worked for an Edinburgh based investment company, and prior to that a large Scottish bank. She also handled the accounts and administration for a family business for over 25 years.

Shirley Courtenay

Shirley is responsible for the credit control of all managed properties in the Rettie & Co. portfolio. She joined Rettie & Co. in 2007 and brought with her a vast knowledge of the client services field having worked in a credit control position previously and as a Customer Liaison Manager for an internet design company.

Sharon MacNeish

Sharon joined Rettie & Co. in 1998 bringing with her experience in lettings and factoring, gained from previously working with two other Edinburgh lettings agencies. Her main role in the team is negotiating all lease renewals and terminations between tenants and landlords, rent reviews and issuing ‘notice to quit’ and other legal documentation when required.

Geraldine joined the Lettings Department in 2008 as Administrator. Her main responsibilities are the negotiation of lease renewals, lease terminations, administration and utilities. Geraldine has over 25 years customer services experience, gained from previous positions including Learning Information Assistant at Napier University Library and managing the debt recovery department of Russel & Aitken.

Donna joined Rettie & Co. in April 2012 as Receptionist for the Lettings Team. Having previoulsy worked in an Environmental Consultants, Donna brings with her a good all round knowledge of Reception Duties taken from her roles in a variety of industries such as; Sport and Leisure, Construction and Finance.
