Sales of high-price homes increasing

THE market for Scotland's prime homes is picking up as the rich ride out the double-dip recession, a report has claimed.

Leading estate agent Rettie today reports "significant increases" in the number of sales of £500,000-plus homes in the centres of both Edinburgh and Glasgow so far this year.

It stressed most of the most expensive houses were going to Scots despite speculation that English and foreign buyers are heading north to buy sub- £2 million homes in a bid to avoid the new 7% stamp duty on such properties.
