TIPS FOR CHOOSING THE RIGHT AGENCY

Location, Location, Location

When selecting an agency, establish which areas you would like to live in and ask if the agent covers all of these? It may also be important to consider where the agency's offices are located so you can get to them easily in the event of any difficulties. 

Check that the agent is professional. Are they RICS regulated?

The Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) is the regulatory body which governs member firms on the principles of lettings.  Membership of RICS is only granted upon gaining professional qualifications and is considered proof of best practice. RICS registration is a sound indicator of a quality service provider.

Sole or multiple agency?

You can shop around agencies yourself (multiple agency) or if your find an agent you particularly like, you may consider working with them on an exclusive basis (sole agency).  The advice and time of a letting agent is free.  By working closely with your selected agent you can benefit from regular updates and view the most suitable properties for your needs.

Personal Recommendation

Ask friends, relatives and colleagues to let you know which agent has offered them the best service.  Recommendations are always an effective way of finding a good agent.
