Simon began his property career in 1985 when he joined Strutt & Parker and qualified as a chartered surveyor. In 1989 he formed Edinburgh & Glasgow Investment Company Ltd where he was Managing Director until 2003. During this period Simon was also a Director of Residential Estate Agents Limited (REAL). Simon is a fellow of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors and also a Trustee of the Scottish Civic Trust.

A qualified chartered surveyor, Tony has acted as Director in charge of the Residential Sales team at Rettie & Co since 1996. After graduating from St Andrews University in 1985, Tony completed an Army short service commission with the Black Watch before gaining an MBA at the University of Edinburgh. Tony then went on to work at industrial auctioneers Ryden Henry Butcher, prior to running the hotels division of Christie & Co.’s Edinburgh office.

James is a Director of Rettie & Co with responsibility for private and off market residential sales within Edinburgh and the surrounding countryside. Prior to joining Rettie & Co in 2001, James worked as an accountant in Edinburgh for two years before establishing his own property search company in London for three years. James graduated from Newcastle University in 1995.

Max’s role in the Residential Sales team is the brokerage, valuation and marketing of residential property in Edinburgh. He began his career working for Edinburgh Commercial Property and joined Rettie & Co in 2005. Following six months with the Lettings Department he moved over to the Residential Sales team and in 2009 he was promoted to Associate Director.

Since joining Rettie & Co in 2002, Lynda’s role in the Residential Sales team has evolved to encompass all aspects of property marketing and sales, including public relations. Lynda obtained a Post Graduate Diploma in Surveying Practice in 2006 and is working towards becoming a Chartered Surveyor.

Julia joined Rettie & Co.’s Residential Sales team in 2010 and brings with her five years' experience of working for Knight Frank In their Edinburgh and London offices. Julia graduated in 2003 from the University of Glasgow with an MA (Hons) in Psychology.

Sarah-Jane joined Rettie & Co.'s Residential Sales team in June 2010. Born and raised in Edinburgh, Sarah obtained a (BSc Hons) degree in Estate Management at Northumbria University where she was a sports scholar. Prior to joining Rettie & Co, Sarah-Jane gained her knowledge and experience working at Ryden LLP in Professional Services and then moved to Newcastle Upon Tyne to work in student lettings before returning to Edinburgh.

Jo joined Rettie & Co’s Edinburgh residential sales team in March 2011 as Assistant to Directors and Applicant Manager. Jo started her career with Strutt & Parker, then set up her own events company managing large scale corporate and private events for four years, before returning to property with Rettie & Co. Jo has strong family roots in property, coupled with an extensive contacts base and an intimate knowledge of the city. Jo studied a BEd Hons in Physical Education at Edinburgh University.

Michelle joined Rettie & Co in 2008 as Personal Assistant to Simon Rettie and Chris Hall. Michelle brings with her a wealth of experience, having spent 26 years working as a PA for many of the main surveying firms in Edinburgh including DTZ, Strutt & Parker and Cushman & Wakefield.

Chris joined Rettie & Co. in 2005 to head up its new Rural and Professional Services Department. He is actively involved in the agency; sales, purchases and valuation of rural property throughout Scotland. Chris is a graduate of agriculture from Newcastle University. Before joining Rettie & Co. he worked at Langley-Taylor in 1987, and qualified as a chartered surveyor in 1991, before being appointed a partner in 1995.

Alastair joined the Residential Sales department at Rettie & Co. in March 2001, following four years of estate management on the Beaulieu Estate in Hampshire. In 1998 he qualified as a chartered surveyor after graduating from the Royal Agricultural College, Cirencester with a degree in Rural Estate Management and prior to this he studied building construction and civil engineering for three years.

Ian joined Rettie & Co in January 2012 as a Graduate. Ian has an extensive background in agriculture and has recently completed his degree in Edinburgh. Ian is working towards his Chartered Surveying qualification. Ian's role is to help expand the businesses Farm Land and Estate Sales.

Iain joined Rettie & Co in 2010 as a Sales Negotiator in our Melrose office, before moving to the Lettings and Management department. Iain recently joined the Country Residential Sales and Farms & Estates team as the Sales & Marketing Assistant. Iain moved back to Scotand in 2006 after spending 19 years in the retail market in London.

Maitland has over 25 years of experience within the residential property market and is one of the leading figures in valuations and sales throughout Glasgow. Maitland joined Rettie & Co as Managing Partner forming the new Rettie West End LLP in Byres Road, Glasgow. Formally the director of A & S Ireland Solicitors and Estate Agents from 2002 to 2009, handling a very strong share of the West End property market making A & S Ireland one of the leading firms in the GSPC. Maitland’s property career began in 1986 when he joined Slater Hogg & Howison in Glasgow and progressed to Senior Valuer before moving onto join the Glasgow Solicitors Property Company (GSPC).

As Sales Manager of the Byres Road office, Emily deals with residential sales and overseas all accounting matters. Emily's property career began with Slater Hogg & Howison in 2004 then onto A & S Ireland in 2006 where she worked till 2009. Her extensive knowledge and experience comes from living and working within the West End of Glasgow throughout her career. She delivers clear and concise advice to our clients with her consistent positive attitude. Prior to working Emily received a BA (Hons) degree in Business Management at Glasgow Caledonian University.

Jillian joined the West End team in April 2010 where she deals primarily with residential sales. Before her career began, Jillian graduated from Paisley University with a degree in Business Studies and prior to joining Rettie & Co she gained a great deal of knowledge and experience working at London based Estate Agents, Stirling Ackroyd where her property career began in 2006. Combined with her complete professionalism and dedication to Estate Agency, Jillian has quickly become an invaluable member of the West End team.

Jackie joined Rettie & Co’s West End team in 2010 as Sales Assistant on a part time basis in the Byres Road office. Jackie has worked within the West End of Glasgow throughout her property career and brings with her a great deal of knowledge and experience having spent 12 years working within Estate Agency firms such as Clyde Property, Slater Hogg & Howison and most recently A & S Ireland Solicitors & Estate Agents (GSPC). She is a great asset to the West End team with her bubbly personality.

Vicki is the newest member of the West End team, joining in May 2011 working on a part-time basis as Sales Assistant in the Byres Road office. Vicki brings with her a wealth and knowledge of the property market having worked in the industry for a number of years. Vicki graduated in Business and Secretarial Studies and has quickly become an asset to the West End team.

Laura is responsible for dealing with property negotiations and administration in Rettie & Co.’s Bath Street office. Laura has over 10 years experience in the Glasgow property market working within various sales and administration positions. Prior to joining Rettie & Co in 2009 she worked with Allen & Harris.

Maria recently joined Rettie & Co.'s Glasgow residential sales and lettings team. Maria has wide ranging experience in the property sector and has previous experience in Rettie & Co.'s New Homes team. For the last 6 years she has been based in Glasgow working in the new build sector and interior design business.

Having moved from the Scottish Borders to Newcastle in 1991, and starting a career in estate agency in 1995, Rob has worked throughout the North East of England property market. Educated in the Cumbrian Dales, Rob joined the sales team of Rettie & Co in February 2009 on returning to the Scottish Borders with his family and brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to the business. He has previously worked for Sanderson Young and has run his own estate agency business.

Gemma joined the Melrose office of Rettie & Co in 2004 where she deals primarily with the residential sales market in the Borders. Gemma brings to Rettie & Co a wealth of property experience having previously worked for some of the major players in the property sector in both London and Edinburgh.

Having grown up and educated in Edinburgh Sam worked for her family building company then moved on to work for a leading insurance company in the city. In 2003 she moved to the Scottish Borders to bring up her three young children. She recently joined the Melrose office as a sales assistant and with her excellent local knowledge and business contacts she is proving to be a valuable member of the team.
