Case Study - A multi-faceted estate acquisition

Ardpatrick Estate, a 1,200-acre coastal estate in Argyll, was acquired in the spring of 2006 for a plc property client.  Prior to purchase we undertook detailed appraisals of the residential, agricultural and forestry assets and conducted in-depth discussions with the Planning Department of Argyll and Bute District Council to accurately identify the development opportunities available.  Our residential analysis explained how to add value via sub-division, extension, conversion and new build within the planning process, and we prepared a detailed business plan for the estate both prior to and subsequent to the purchase.  Our client was delighted to be the successful bidder from over 60 offers and is now successfully implementing the business plan.
