Housing completions continue rising in Scotland and new fund launch projects further buoyancy

The latest of our New Homes bulletins has been released. The findings have come from our carefully researched data courtesy of the Rettie Research Team, Scotland’s largest dedicated property research department.

Key Findings

  • New house completions are up again in Scotland, by 5% over the last year. This rise has been fuelled by parts of the East of Scotland, with East Lothian completions up 54% year-on-year and the Aberdeen market coming back (up 49%).
  • These numbers will be further enhanced with the creation of a new Mid Market Rent Fund by Places for People and the Scottish Government to fund 1,000 new Mid Market Rent units across Scotland.
  • Despite the general optimism in the Scottish market, there is weaker sentiment down south, which has led to a slide in a number of house builder share prices in the first half of 2018 by around 10-20%.
