At Rettie, people have always been at the heart of the business, and that remains firmly true as we look ahead to our next chapter.

We’re pleased to share an important leadership transition that reflects both the strength of our team and our long-term ambitions for growth. Founding Director Simon Rettie will move into the role of Chair, with current Chief Operating Officer Becky Lindsay stepping into the position of Chief Executive Officer, with effect from January 2027.

This change marks a natural evolution for the firm, balancing continuity with fresh momentum. Since founding the business in Edinburgh in 1993, Simon has built Rettie into one of Scotland’s leading property specialists, and he will remain closely involved, focusing on key strategic priorities.

Becky brings deep experience and a long-standing understanding of the business. Having joined Rettie more than 20 years ago, she has played a central role in shaping our growth; from leading New Homes to driving operational excellence as COO.

Building for the Future, Together

This transition isn’t just about leadership; it’s about strengthening how we work as a team. Alongside Becky’s appointment, Rettie is establishing an Executive Management Team to support the next phase of development, ensuring that expertise from across the business continues to inform our direction.

As Simon reflects on the move, the message is clear:

This is a story of continuity, stability, growth, and building for the future.

That sentiment perfectly captures Rettie’s approach, evolving while staying true to the values that have defined the business for more than three decades.

A Business Continuing to Grow

These leadership changes come at a time of strong progress across the company. Over the past year, Rettie has expanded its presence in Edinburgh, including the opening of a new South Edinburgh office in Morningside and the relocation of its Lettings team to newly refurbished premises on Wemyss Place.

Today, Rettie operates from 12 offices and employs over 200 people across Scotland, the North East of England and London, offering a full range of property services, from residential sales and lettings to land and development, research, consultancy, and financial services.

Looking Ahead

For Becky, the opportunity ahead is both exciting and grounded in the firm’s heritage:

Rettie has grown to be Scotland’s preeminent property firm under Simon’s leadership, and I look forward to continuing to shape future growth across the business in the years ahead.

Becky Lindsay
Chief Operating Officer

As we look forward, our focus remains on delivering exceptional service for our clients, supporting our people, and continuing to invest in the future of the business.

This next chapter for Rettie is not about change for change’s sake, it’s about building on strong foundations, with the right people in place to take us forward.
