Description

Mountain Bear Lodge is a stunning property, crafted from mammoth Douglas fir logs imported from Canada, in a peaceful Highland setting. The design of the Lodge provides luxurious accommodation for 14 - 3 doubles, 1 twin, 1 twin bunk and quad bunk that can take four or more kids.

The Lodge has a dedicated parking area to the west from which a path leads to the front door which opens to a spacious boot room/outer hall with under-floor heating and on to the principal hall with a staircase to the first floor gallery and doors to the bedrooms and principal reception room. The huge living room has a Cathedral style vaulted ceiling with exposed beams and large floor to ceiling windows with southerly views to the Cairngorms. A feature of the room is the Tulikivi wood burning stove clad in soapstone which stores and radiates the heat throughout the day. The adjoining dining area is of Alpine design and allows guests to sit round one large table and enjoy a fantastic dining experience. The adjoining kitchen is wonderfully equipped with a range cooker, two dishwashers, wine fridge, fridge freezer and quality units and work surfaces. There is a small utility cupboard off the kitchen plumbed for a washing machine.

There are six bedrooms in total, three double bedrooms with en-suite facilities, a four bed bunk room with an en-suite, a two bed bunk room and a double bedroom. Those bedrooms without en-suite facilities are served by a large spa bathroom with a double Jacuzzi, walk-in shower, dual wash hand basins and a sauna. The bathrooms all have under-floor heating.

To the south and east of the house a large decked terrace with partially overhanging eaves can be accessed by a number of doors from the bedrooms, living room and kitchen. The terrace leads round to an eight person hot tub with an adjacent patio. Beyond the hot tub is a wonderful octagonal barbeque hut with a central fire pit and bench seating. To the rear of the house is a timber chalet/owner’s cabin in which personal items are stored when the Lodge is let. To the west of the Lodge is a lean-to log store/bike shed.

The lodge sits in almost 0.5 acres. To the front of the Lodge is a gravelled area leading to a raised bed planted with heathers and evergreens. Beyond is an undulating grassed area with Scots pine and silver birch trees. To the rear of the Lodge the BBQ hut and owner’s cabin are carefully situated between pine trees. To the west of the house a gravel parking area leads to a tarmacadam drive. The whole garden is enclosed by fencing.

Mountain Bear Lodge can provide differing experiences depending on what guests are looking for. It is a superb place to rent for a family or friends get-together with the large living room acting as the focal point for gatherings or just relaxing and enjoying the views to the Cairngorm Mountains. On the other hand it is a romantic hideaway where a couple can relax and enjoy the Jacuzzi, hot tub and peaceful location.

Location Description

The Cairngorm National Park encompasses Britain’s highest and most massive mountain range. Its biggest native Caledonian pine forests together with spectacularly clean rivers and lochs, moorland and farmland are a Sanctuary for Britain’s wildlife including 25% of our threatened species. It is one of the country’s most special and cherished landscapes (www.visitcairngorm.com).

The Cairngorm area has always attracted tourists being renowned for its all year round sporting opportunities. In addition to the traditional field sports available on local Estates there are extensive downhill and cross country ski runs on the Cairngorms, water sports on the Lochs Morlich and Insh, salmon fishing on the River Spey, numerous golf courses, hill walking, climbing and mountain biking over the hundreds of miles of paths in the mountains and forests surrounding Nethy Bridge and Aviemore.

Situated in the heart of beautiful Strathspey between Aviemore and Grantown-on-Spey with Abernethy Forest to the south, Nethy Bridge and the surrounding countryside have been a Highland Holiday destination since Victorian times. Straddling the River Nethy shortly before it joins the River Spey the village lies close to the RSPB Osprey Centre at Loch Garten in the heart of Abernethy Forest, a remnant of the ancient Caledonian pine forest that covered most of the Highlands at one time.

The A9 Perth to Inverness trunk road and the main line Railway Station at Aviemore (15 miles) provide fast access to the north and south. The sleeper service to London stops at Aviemore. Inverness Airport (41 miles) offers scheduled flights to London and other UK destinations.
